Aurora Low Band Networked Radio System

Presented by National Capitol Communications in collaboration with the Commodium YouTube Channel, and the members with countless hours of hard work and financial support. Aurora is the future of low band VHF radio. The network features custom hardware and software developed by Steve Townsend from the Commodium YouTube Channel. Aurora is a linked network of VHF low band simplex nodes running on a secure Ubiquiti powered VPN IP network. Starlink service provides satellite failover. Independent simplex repeater contollers provide guaranteed ‘Local Uptime’ in the unlikely event of a total network or global internet failure. The entire network is completely self hosted on servers we own. The software is a mix of asterisk voip and custom written code in PHP/Python/Linux BASH. The servers run a security hardened distro of Debian with an advanced AI ‘watchdog’ running health monitoring, intrusion detection, system metrics, and custom voice messages. The AI provides realtime emergency alerts from NWS CAP, news headlines, tides, and provides all FCC regulatory station IDs, as well as system management messages, with room to grow. The endpoints run on a mix on Kenwood and propriety interfaces to voip/roip gateways. This hardware/software combinations provides unparalleled audio quality and extreme low latency between the central servers and the RF endpoints. This system is in constant development and upgrades. We are also consistently expanding plans for larger coverage areas. Aurora is also not locked into just lowband VHF. Commercial VHF/UHF can also be added.
